Last Christmas (2019 Movie)

The movie showed up in my recommendations for some reason.

I honestly do not know. I have not watched any related movies.

Looking at the cast, I saw Michelle Yeoh as “Santa” and was intrigued.

The disparity between poor critic reviews, and high viewer approval peaked my interest.

With many positive critic reviews, including some variation of not wanting to spoil the ending, that the first part of the movie is quite predictable (read cheesy to me) but well worth it for the ending, I decided it was a good background watch while ironing and doing housework.

It does not disappoint.

The movie moves along rather predictably. What mystery there is to characters is predictably guessed.

Then, just when you are predicting the next moment, the script contains a heart-grabbing twist.

I do not want to spoil it.

I will say I felt the emotion.

To make it all the more powerful, for me, it is set in London UK, and there’s a memorial plaque at the end “1986-2016.”

A very dear friend of mine, who moved to London, died of leukemia in 2016 at age 30.

I recommend.

P.S. I love movies with a plot twist that brings greater sense to earlier scenes. It is why I loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Similarly, the story arcs are why Star Trek Deep Space Nine is my favourite Star Trek.
